The joint Council for Palm Oil Producing Countries (CPOPC) met for their fourth ministrial meeting last week. One of the main topics discussed was the adoption of the recent European Parliament resolution on 'Palm Oil and Rainforests'. The CPOPC expressed its disappointment with a number of issues in the resolution e.g. the development of a single certification scheme. The Council notes that it will address their concerns with the European Union and agreed for a CPOPC Ministerial Mission in May 2017 to the EU for further engagement and cooperation from the perspective of the producing countries with the European Parliament and European Commission.
