EFISC signs mutual recognition agreements with AIC, GMP+, OVOCOM and QS

AIC, GMP+, OVOCOM and QS, have recently signed agreements on mutual recognition with EFISC. This is the positive outcome of the extensive mutual benchmarking of the respective schemes for the scope feed material manufacturing. EFISC certified feed material is considered compliant with the other standards and can be used by compound feed manufacturers without additional audits for EFISC certified companies. The certification rules of the systems are recognized on a mutual basis. The agreement applies as of the first of May 2014.

This important step forward rewards the considerable work done at European and National level towards increased cooperation, harmonization of requirements and the strengthening of feed safety assurance. Secondly it will facilitate trade in the EU internal market by providing trust and transparency regarding the certification for the feed manufacturer.

The European code to good practice for the industrial manufacturing of safe feed materials (EFISC) has been developed by the EU feed materials sector organisations (FEDIOL and AAF) in order to provide an EU harmonised, voluntary feed safety assurance scheme for the feed materials industry. For more information regarding EFISC see the EFISC website.

EFISC, AIC, GMP+, OVOCOM and QS are committed to further strengthen cooperation by exchange of information, a more systematic sharing of expertise on technical issues as well as harmonized procedures in case of crisis management involving each other’s certified companies.  At least once a year, a consultation meeting shall take place, during which amendments to quality standards, potential improvements, harmonization, will be discussed.
